Progress, Ho!

Interesting lecture at class last night: Those who need to write vs. those who need to write WELL.

Caleb went on to rant abt how he was tired of wasting time w/ the pple who only need to satisfy an itch to write and could satisfy that itch happily by scratching it all over a personal blog. If you just need readers to read your chat or read your heart-felt creations, YOU DON'T NEED A TEACHER. Stick with your gut and love it.

But the second variety of people...they are the published authors.

So you know that voice problem I've been agonizing over? Breakthrough at class today helped me realize I never had a problem in the first place and trying to fit my narrative into the mold I thought was the "literary rule"...I was just serioulsy confused. Caleb pushed me with impromptu exercises that forced me to think fast and *abra cadabra* I hit the nail on the head every time.

The moment I will treasure: "You know what this means? It means you're a WRITER!"

Instant relief and celebrations! Bc I was seriously wondering whether I was chasing a talent that wasn't meant to be mine. I have perfectionist issues :) And the other relief? I can let go and write on instinct bc--in this particular case--its the right voice for this project.

Step by step I'm learning, I'm learning, I'm learning people.
