Lyrics: "Give Me"

Seriously, we're not sure who gave this girl permission to grow up. My husband and I clearly remember prohibiting her from doing so. But the way she keeps growing into the wonderful spirit she is, I don't find myself looking back and wishing she was still my totally dependent baby. She keeps me looking forward with her laugh, her brilliance, and her creativity with as much awe as her innocent, infant eyes used to.

My first baby was born yesterday, ten years ago. Outwardly we celebrated with streamers, friends, a disco ball and a top-secret guinea pig pet surprise. In my heart I cherish that day as the day I became a mother.

At night she woke up with leg cramps from all the dancing she did. As I stayed up to help her massage out the knots, I couldn't help thinking what an appropriate way to spend the 10th anniversary of the first of many, many, many nights of interrupted, this-is-mom's-official-calling sleep.

Her song had been the first one I ventured into. I wanted it to be vibrant and imaginative because that's the energy this young lady is (almost) always putting out. (Hey...we're all only almost right? We have our moments, ha ha)

This one has a fun, jazzy swinging beat :)

Challenge: use "light", "snow", "dear to my heart", "angel", and "heaven".
VERSE 1
Give me rainbows in a snowstorm / Winds burning flames,
Waterfalls of sunshine / And powder drops of rain
Give me oceans filled with starlight / Meadows painted blue,
Mountains swinging sideways / And deserts fresh with dew

CHORUS
Shake the whole world inside out / I still will love you
Pull the heavens upside down, you know / I still will have you
Shake the whole world inside out / You’re still in my arms
Pull the heavens and skies upside down / Even angels can’t tear us apart
Your love is too dear to me / Too dear to my heart.

 VERSE 2
Give me books with glass for pages / Songs with ice for notes
Mirror petal flowers / And cream piano floats
Give me bears afraid of moon beams / Butterflies of light
Birds that nest in sugar / And fish that wish to write

BRIDGE
Days will come when no one sees the world like you do / And days will come when life confuses you
But I have you and you have me / And that’s the way we’ll always be / And now you see (CHORUS)
