I am a very formulaic person - I can only cook with a recipe, I can only drive with step-by-step directions.

So when I came across this LogLine formula by Holly Bodger, I was thrilled!  Visit the link for her detailed explanation of the components.

When [MAIN CHARACTER] [INCITING INCIDENT], he [CONFLICT]. And if he doesn’t [GOAL] he will [CONSEQUENCES].

These loglines are key elements in drafting your query.  Essentially, you will expand each element into individual sentences creating a solid pitch paragraph.
